The Palin Channel: All Palin, All the Time!
People Never Seem Tire Of Sarah Palin!
Give Us More! More! More!
Give Us More! More! More!
To Christian Broadcasting Network, Trinity Broadcasting Network and any other network that has a timeslot to fill: Create an All Palin Channel, broadcasting news, podcasts, pictorials, documentaries (there may be one out there) all about Sarah Palin, Governor of Alaska. Think of the ratings! You'd push aside FOX news the very first day! She's a phenomenon! She's gold! People want to know what fragrance she wears! (it's a secret!), what Walmart she patronizes! They want Sarah Palin hairdos, Sarah Palin shoes, Sarah Palin Evangelical rape kits! An all-Palin, all the time channel would be a veritable blockbuster - at least for the next 5 weeks. After that, who knows? After that, who cares?
I care enough to say STOP! Stop and take a long, deep breath. Stop and READ what she has said and is being said about her. Stop looking at the
"Hockey-mom-just-like-everyone-else-wants-change-in-Washington-bonefied-WOMAN
Sarah Palin. Start looking at her in conjunction with McCain, Obama and Biden...and policies. Ask yourself some very pertinent questions: (my personal answers in red - hey! who's blog is it?)
- Is Sarah Palin a Christian Fundamentalist who follows the current Fundamentalist ideology? Yes. Her ties to Pentecostals, certain pastors, views of the Bible and links to people like Franklin Graham, make for one faithful Fundamentalist.
- Would Palin try to exercise Fundamentalist beliefs as a head of state? Possibly. She showed some leanings toward censorship with the Wasilla librarian affair.
- Does Sarah Palin have a working knowledge of minorities? No. No matter how many times she says that she's been exposed to many different cultures in Wasilla and Anchorage, she really doesn't have a working knowledge of minorities be they African American, Latino, gay, Asian, Muslim.
- Does Governor Palin have a working knowledge of the various regional cultures of America such as New Englander, New Yorker, Los Angelino, Texan, etc.? Probably not. In a sense, Palin has been in isolation for most of her life, if her accounts are true.
- Would Palin be able to represent the nation in foreign countries/affairs? No. She is too much like George Bush to be able to carry off any diplomatic mission. Period.
- Would Palin be able to react quickly in terms of a natural disaster? Don't know. This would depend on how much briefing she gets on infrastructure affairs - how much John McCain would allow her to know.
- Would Palin vote for or co-author a Marriage Amendment? If she thought the legislature could pull it off successfully, DEFINITELY.
- Is Sarah Palin smart? Yes. She has cunning and a sense of political survival.
- Is Sarah Palin intelligent? Probably not. While some people cite her as a "quick learner," she has not stopped repeating her liabilities (e.g. "Bridge to Nowhere" lie)
- Is she secretive? Yes. There are too many questions left unanswered. When questioned about many things, she dodges questions, sometimes to the point of seeming to come off as clueless.
- Can she lead? Condition: Only when she feels that EVERYONE supports her. Too many stories of vengeance for not supporting her are circulating.
- Would she be a competent President? No. She would have to take too much time to learn things. She would sense her own incompetence and that would show.
Just a thought.

Start looking at her in conjunction with McCain, Obama and Biden.
Why should we compare Palin with people she is not in competition with? She is in the #2 slot on the R ticket. Her qualifications vs. Obama are irrelevant. (Although she stacks up more favorable in most aspects.) Comparing her to Biden, we see an old time Washington insider vs. a fresh face from Alaska with no political baggage, no axes to grind, and no old debts to repay for the power she would enjoy. Kinda makes me think a bit.
Is Sarah Palin a Christian Fundamentalist?
Probably, but is that a bad thing? I’m a Catholic,,, are you going to hold that against me? Christians from all sects believe, (maybe wrongly) that there is a God, who set down on Tablets of Stone certain tenets by which we should live. This great country of ours was founded upon these tenets. Should we trash our heritage at this point?
Would Palin try to exercise Fundamentalist beliefs as a head of state? Possibly. She showed some leanings toward censorship with the Wasilla librarian affair.
This has been proven to be a complete fabrication. Check your facts, and stop perpetrating rumors and lies. Obama has dedicated a whole web site to ‘stop the smears’, you should pay the same homage to truth as BHO pretends to.
Does Sarah Palin have a working knowledge of minorities? No. No matter how many times she says that she's been exposed to many different cultures in Wasilla and Anchorage, she really doesn't have a working knowledge of minorities be they African American, Latino, gay, Asian, Muslim.
This is absolutely absurd. Alaska has minorities,,, have you ever heard of Eskimos? What has anyone in Washington done lately for the natives of Alaska? Personally I’m sick to death of having to apologize for being a white person. Civil rights have been the law-of-the-land for over 60 years. Get over it. Blacks, browns, yellows, gays, etc., have exactly the same rights and privileges as the rest of us. Perhaps they should start to behave with the same responsibilities and standards that the rest of us are held to. If Obama loses this election race he will have fulfilled MLK’s promise: He will have been judged by his character, and not by the color of his skin.
Does Governor Palin have a working knowledge of the various regional cultures of America such as New Englander, New Yorker, Los Angelino, Texan, etc.? Probably not. In a sense, Palin has been in isolation for most of her life, if her accounts are true.
I’m a Texan and I find her views perfectly acceptable.
Would Palin be able to represent the nation in foreign countries/affairs? No. She is too much like George Bush to be able to carry off any diplomatic mission. Period.
Watch out for those “ Period’s”. Here you speak in absolutes which do not apply. Setting Foreign Policy is not part of the job description of the Vice President. As for being too much like George Bush,,, you say that like it’s wrong to have prevented another 9-11. George Bush has spent the better part of his waking hours for the past 7 years making sure you don’t get roasted in a jet fuel fire in some high rise tower. Be a little thankful for who has his hand on the wheel of the Ship of State.
Would Palin be able to react quickly in terms of a natural disaster? Don't know. This would depend on how much briefing she gets on infrastructure affairs - how much John McCain would allow her to know.
Once again you assign duties to Palin that are not on her plate as VP. The primary responsibility in disaster control situations is; first the Mayor of the city in question, and then the Governor of the State. Hurricane Katrina is the perfect example. New Orleans suffered from piss-poor leadership at the city and state level, not from the feds. (BTW, all were liberal Democrats).
Would Palin vote for or co-author a Marriage Amendment? If she thought the legislature could pull it off successfully, DEFINITELY.
Do you mean a vote against GAY marriage? Your statement is, I presume purposely, ambiguous here. If I’m right in this guess,,, the vast majority of Americans are not in favor of re-defining the term “marriage”.
Is Sarah Palin smart? Yes. She has cunning and a sense of political survival.
This smacks of a personal attack upon someone you do not know at all. How can you make that judgment? Assine low class is the way to describe this comment. Shame on you for stooping this low.
Is Sarah Palin intelligent? Probably not. While some people cite her as a "quick learner," she has not stopped repeating her liabilities (e.g. "Bridge to Nowhere" lie)
Sarah has a degree in journalism, is that not enough to lead you to believe she might not be a little intelligent? I think Sarah Palin possesses a natural native intelligence which surpasses the Ivy League elitism which passes for intelligence these days. The "Bridge to Nowhere" is another proven smear attempt by the left. The “Bridge to Nowhere” was an earmark she inherited from the corrupt administration which she succeeded, and then killed. (as I now understand things)
Is she secretive? Yes. There are too many questions left unanswered. When questioned about many things, she dodges questions, sometimes to the point of seeming to come off as clueless.
Questions left unanswered??? Are you serious? I’ve long had questions unanswered about the 20 + years Obama sat listening to Rev. Wright’s anti-America, anti-Jew, anti-white sermons. I’ve asked about Obama’s relationship with the convicted felon Resko. I’ve asked about Obama’s relationship with the former terrorist Bill Ayers. None of those questions have been satisfactorily answered for me. Your left wing MSM is so far in the tank for Obama it’s no longer funny.
And you talk about “clueless”,,, give me a break.
Can she lead? Condition: Only when she feels that EVERYONE supports her. Too many stories of vengeance for not supporting her are circulating.
Probably better than Obama, who has zero executive experience.
Would she be a competent President? No. She would have to take too much time to learn things. She would sense her own incompetence and that would show.
Do not ask stupid questions. Sarah Palin would not have to “learn things” in a few days, she has time to grow into the position. Your guy, Obama, OTOH, is not ready to take control from Day 1. Once again, your comparisons are so far off the wall as to destroy all logic.
Whoa! Thank you! What a reaction! I take it as a compliment that you made such an effort! Such a response deserves a response from me (though not as eloquent as yours)
1. A "fresh face" is not necessarily the BEST face for the job.
2. "no political baggage" - but LOADS of other baggage: "Troopergate" alone is heavy enough!
3. She's not just a Fundamentalist, but a Christofascist. There are good Fundamentalists, but hardly any good Christofascists. A person who was with an Assemblies of God congregation for longer than Obama was with Rev. Wright is attached at the hip to its doctrines. And its doctrines are extremely hate-filled. I came across a picture of a billboard with an Assemblies of God logo stating "Catholics Suck! Vote for Michele Bachmann." Christofascists are not the most tolerant people as religions go: they hate all other religions...and just about everyone else who is not an inerrantist and who wants to evangelize the world - in the worst way possible.
4.This country was founded upon great tenets, but those tenets were humanist, not Christian. BTW: when I was born, I popped out (literally) into the arms of a nun at St. Vincent's Infant Asylum and Maternity Hospital in Chicago. I was raised more Catholic than most. I'm now a recovering Catholic because I almost drowned in the hypocrisy.
5. Eskimos? Palin doesn't know them (or want to know them)either: the laws in Alaska make it particularly difficult for Native American rape victims to receive any kind of assistance. So Palin's husband is part Inuit, big deal. She did nothing to help her Native American "sisters" achieve equality.
6. "Blacks, browns,gays...exactly the same rights as the rest of us." I ask the same question I would ask of Palin: What planet are you from?
"He will have been judged by his character, and not by the color of his skin." Bullshit!
7."Be a little thankful for who has his hand on the wheel of the Ship of State."
The Ship of State sank a long time ago. During those 7 years, Bush believed in "cowboy" diplomacy (shoot first...)which is really no diplomacy at all. In fact, he set our "Ship of State" back at least fifty years. I'm surprised that tourists don't get off planes asking where Custer and the Injuns are!
8. Sarah Palin is smart, yes, but not intelligent: she jumps in too quickly on an issue without giving it any thought. That is not intelligent. Journalism? Hmmm...today's headlines say she doesn't trust journalists (and yes, there are some journalists in the midst of the media). Today, she almost told them to go f*ck themselves.
9. I thought you said her qualifications vs. Obama were irrelevant. Anyway, she still hasn't answered questions. She hasn't even come close to answering them. As to the "Bridge to Nowhere" lie: it's a fact that she CAMPAIGNED for governor on that earmark. She seemed to enjoy "inheriting" that debacle. There is no evidence that she ever communicated to Washington her "thanks but no thanks" sentiment. And, of course, she DID keep the money. The "Road to Nowhere" is almost completed. It cost about $26 million.
10. "This smacks of a personal attack upon someone you do not know at all. How can you make that judgment?" I read things. Her lack of intelligence (or being smart)is not a personal attack, but a judgment based on what she herself has put out and what has come to light within the past several weeks. As a citizen, I have a right to question competence before voting.
10. Yes, I mean GAY marriage. And maybe "re-defining the term 'marriage'” as you see it is not a bad thing! "Marriage" has NOT been the "old" institution so many people think it is. Our "definition" is, at most, 250 years old. A brief look at the history of women during the last three thousand years argues that "marriage" was little more than a business transaction: dowry and male children. Love? The poor might have been able to afford it because they had little else. The rich could NOT afford it. "GAY marriage" is simply joining two people together who love each other in a commitment. That's what heterosexual marriage is supposed to be. And so many "straight" marriages have failed so miserably that some people are asking "Should heterosexuals be allowed to marry.?"
11.You don't "grow into" the position of Vice President of the United States, especially after Dick Cheney expanded the role with a great deal more power.
"Sarah Palin Gets a Crash Course in Foreign Affairs at the United Nations" was posted yesterday by AP, Newsweek and US News & World Report. Palin's being overhauled by the McCain campaign. Unfortunately, she really will be a pig with lipstick on after her makeover!
I suspect I was more deeply immersed in the Church than you were. Catholic schools, Altar Boy, Jesuit Seminary education, etc., but a stint in the military cured most of that. I don’t even recall how I ended up at your blog,,, I suspect I was following links in the Palin smear trail.
I see nothing in Sarah Palin’s background which leads me to the label; “Christofascists”. I wonder, did you just make up that word? I’ve never heard that before. It doesn’t exactly just roll off the tongue, does it? Assemblies of God are one of the more fundamental groups within the framework of US Christian sects, however, they are not the anarchists you seem to think. Catholics often refer to them as “Holy Rollers” for some of their more comical religious antics. I think they prefer to be called the “Pentecostal” denomination. All that said, they still have a sizable following in the USA with over 12,000 churches and something on the order of 2.4 million adherents. That’s a lot of votes. Sneer at them at your peril. BTW, if you read some of the more obscure Jefferson papers, you will see a deeply religious man. Christian tenets were a serious concern which governed his writings. His points about the separation of Church and State were more about religion not becoming a ruling class than about having a state sponsored religion. There is, I know, a fine distinction, but it is an important one.
A lot has been written about “TrooperGate”. Hells Bells,,, the guy used a stun gun on his own step-son~! Should we talk about poor parenting skills, or just plain bad judgment on the part of a police officer? The man deserved to be fired.
“What planet are you from?” I’m from the one called, “the third rock from the sun”, you know,,, the one where people are free to vote as they please, speak as they wish, assemble with like minded individuals… I work in a field were folks can excel based on merit, education, and experience, not on some crazy quota system designed by the government. The only reason a black man, or a brown one, or a gay one, et al. doesn’t have my job is because he/she may lack the necessary degrees, i.e., math, physics, and maybe some geology credit as well. Advanced degrees are the way to get ahead in life, not through the EEOC. “"He will have been judged by his character, and not by the color of his skin." This is only “bullshit” if you are looking for the easy path.
“So Palin's husband is part Inuit, big deal. She did nothing to help her Native American "sisters" achieve equality.”
I love this one,,, Obama’s own half brother lives in a mud hut on less than $12 a year. Let’s see BHO help his own blood family before we trash Sarah Palin’s husbands folks on the north slope of Alaska. Priorities, my friend, priorities.
I don’t have time for more. Let me get back to you later.
Thanks
1.I also went the whole shibang on Catholicism except for the seminary: grade school Dominican college prep school altar boy (although I wasn't sexually abused - I guess I wasn't cute enough!)
2. No, I didn't make up the term Christofascists:
Christofascism (the name being a portmanteau of Christianity and Fascism) is a concept in Christian theology first mentioned by Dorothee Sölle, a socially-engaged theologian and writer, in her book Beyond Mere Obedience: Reflections on a Christian Ethic for the Future in 1970.
# "Some might say that Christofascism is a growing problem in our secular society. In fact, all the "revealed" religions seem downright dangerous to me. The primary goal of Judaism, Christianity and Islam is to silence their critics by any means, in order to bring their beliefs to the fore." (Concord Monitor, December 2007) [13]
3. I don't just sneer at Christofascists or Assemblies of God followers. They are very, very dangerous people. They are almost up there with Reconstructionists (Chalcedon Foundation and R.J. Rushdooney)
4. The whole point of "Troopergate" is not how lousy a father Palin's brother-in-law was, but did she abuse the office of the governor to have him fired from his job?
5. “"He will have been judged by his character, and not by the color of his skin." This is only “bullshit” if you are looking for the easy path.
----Now you're really in deep doo-doo! --- I lived in a black ghetto of San Francisco for 5 1/2 years in the worst part (we were able to relocate in the City just last year to a much safer neighborhood). During those years, I saw some very gruesome sights along with some really wonderful people. We had a very diverse apartment building (new and well-appointed). Although it was mostly black, we also had Hispanics, Filipino (Pinoy), Chinese, Japanese, Peruvian and Muslim (Pakistani) families. Our only problem was in going out of the building, day or night. I was concerned for the kids, so I started an after-school program for all the kids - getting help with homework and projects. We even had a "Reading Olympics" where all the participating kids (35 kids were older than 4 years old)got prizes. For the little ones, we encouraged the parents to read books to them if they couldn't read. O.K., that's the upbeat side. (click on Jefferson Award and then put "Dan Vojir" in search)
The downbeat side was that because it was a black community, our district got short shrift from the City on most everything. Community services were elsewhere - not where they were needed. And not only were the kids affected, but the elderly as well.
I have seen all kinds of discrimination: race, gay, women, etc. And you will note that many AP , UPI, Reuters and even Pew Forum research are reporting that there are still people in this country (yes, a great deal of people) who will not vote for Obama simply because of the color of his skin. And remember this: The Southern Baptist Convention was founded as a pro-slavery Baptist offshoot from the Baptist Convention. Southern Baptists are much like Assemblies of God in their doctrines. It took them 120 years to "apologize" for slavery. They may have some African American Southern Baptist pastors and preachers, but they better be Republican and vote "white" if they want their church to get anywhere/obtain services within the Convention.
A little off the subject: yesterday it was reported that the Southern Baptist Convention ordered a Christian magazine to be taken off the shelves of their bookstores immediately because the cover had WOMEN pastors on it! (shock! shock!)
There is discrimination EVERYWHERE. I love this country more than my own life, but the reality is that racism, homophobia, sexism are spread throughout the country.
Again, thanks for commenting.
Allow me to continue.
4. The whole point of "Troopergate" is not how lousy a father Palin's brother-in-law was, but did she abuse the office of the governor to have him fired from his job?
No,,, I think we are talking about the correct USE of power to rid the State of Alaska of a really bad employee.
I lived in a black ghetto of San Francisco for 5 1/2 years in the worst part (we were able to relocate in the City just last year to a much safer neighborhood).
Congratulations on the improvements in your lifestyle.
so I started an after-school program for all the kids - getting help with homework and projects. This is impressive. My only question is: “Where were the parents?”, Why did these children get to this point? Certainly it was not because of discrimination. Parents do not, or should not, discriminate against their own kids. When minority children get into trouble the typical excuse is “discrimination”, trust me, it is not. It is the result of piss-poor parenting.
The downbeat side was that because it was a black community, our district got short shrift from the City on most everything. Community services were elsewhere - not where they were needed. And not only were the kids affected, but the elderly as well.
White, black, brown, yellow, young, old, etc., it should not matter. Did the gays suffer from lack of representation? San Francisco is rather famous about that end of the political spectrum. You seem to like to play the “blame game”. While you are at it, why not remember the KKK? They are well known as anti-everything. Democrats,,, every one of them. So much for the liberal agenda. I swear, if blacks knew how hard the Dems have worked to oppress them over the years, they’d never, ever, vote for another Democrat.
The Southern Baptist Convention was founded as a pro-slavery Baptist offshoot from the Baptist Convention.
The oldest Baptist church in the South, First Baptist Church, Charleston, South Carolina, was organized in 1682, very much during the reign of slavery and held to those tenets quite closely. It was part and parcel of the culture at the time.
OTOH, the Assemblies of God can only trace their roots to what is generally believed to a prayer meeting held under the leadership of Charles Parham, at Bethel Bible College in Topeka, Kansas, on January 1, 1901, well after the demise of black slavery in this country. Hummmm,,, 1682,,, or, 1901. Please show me a more direct link between these two terrible evils.
There is discrimination EVERYWHERE.
I submit that this is not the case in today’s USA. The concept of discrimination is held near and dear to those who are non-achievers as the reason they don’t have power. If you cannot add 2+2 and get 4, if you cannot spell “cat”, if you do not know the definition of a day’s work, and cannot get a decent job with a livable wage, it is not because of discrimination. It is because you are dumber than a box of rocks and an employer cannot afford to hire you. Rice and Powell are prime examples of minorities who have achieved much fame and success by virtue of education and determination. Others have done as well in other various business venues. It’s just too easy to blame someone or something for personal failure.
On a personal note, I’m a working physicist; (USC), my wife is a college professor of math and science, (MSU). We probably could have dropped out in the 10th grade and let the government care for us on a welfare program. We choose not to for reasons I cannot describe here. Our two sons are university educated (UofU and MSU), have good jobs and are productive members of society. Not because we are white, or have some mystical racial powers, or super intelligence, and certainly not because of inherited wealth,,, (our parents didn’t have a pot),,, but rather because we worked for it. That’s the true path to success.
When the black community gets over the notion that they are “owed” success, or big bucks in reparations, when they realize that selling dope is destructive, not constructive, when they know how to put the first 25 years of their life into becoming something more than a drag on the nation, then we might make some progress.
The bottom line is: Don’t blame me, or the white race, when things go south. We have been preaching the evils of drugs, (crack cocaine and heroine) for two generations I know of. We have been against gang violence from the get-go. We have been signing the song of community. We have been preaching the sermon about education and legitimate employment forever. If blacks don’t listen, then don’t complain when we marginalize the wishes of those who are less than productive. We need workers in this country, not shirkers.
No,,, I think we are talking about the correct USE of power to rid the State of Alaska of a really bad employee.
- I haven't seen any reports of his conduct as an employee, only of his being a bad husband and father.
“Where were the parents?”, Why did these children get to this point? Certainly it was not because of discrimination. Parents do not, or should not, discriminate against their own kids.
- The parents were right there beside the kids, urging them to try to get a better education than they did. I counseled some parents as to reading and comprehension problems and told the parents what to say to the teachers. They eagerly did as I asked and things changed. The point is THEY didn't fail the kids, the school system failed the kids. When we had events for the kids ALL of the parents showed up. In fact, I have never seen a group of parents so devoted to their kids. Most of the people in our subsidized housing situation were really trying to push their lives forward. There were very inspiring stories there (e.g. the young woman attending Berkeley whom I tutor has severe cerebral palsey - her grandmother was raising her and four other grandchildren as well as helping her daughter in her career). None of these people thought they were "owed" anything.
Please show me a more direct link between these two terrible evils.
- Notice that I said the DOCTRINES were similar. Assemblies of God, Southern Baptists and Fundamentalists (Fundamentalism was actually founded in the 1920s) all use the Bible as a weapon, picking and choosing which verses to use against people they don't like. The doctrine of inerrancy is absolutely ridiculous in light of what science has established, yet rank stupidity reigns (e.g. the Creation Museum in Kentucky which cost $27 million most of it going to animatronic dinosaurs cavorting with Adam and Eve). Fundamentalists such as Pat Robertson (who has regular "talks" with God!)are sharks feeding on other gullible Fundamentalists. Fundamentalists, Southern Baptists, Assemblies of God followers usually have two types of "Elmers": Elmer Gantrys and Elmer Fudds. The problem with Fudds (like Sarah Palin) is that they are the ones with the guns. Yes, "It's twoo, it's twoo, it's weewee weewee twoo." And Fundamentalists, Southern Baptists and Assemblies of God followers tend to be very , very racist, homophobic and sexist.
When the black community gets over the notion that they are “owed” success, or big bucks in reparations, when they realize that selling dope is destructive, not constructive, when they know how to put the first 25 years of their life into becoming something more than a drag on the nation, then we might make some progress.
For all your comments of people like Condoleeza Rice and Colin Powell, the above makes you sound very racist. If it were ever taken out of context...
As a last thought:
You can't pull yourself up by your own bootstraps when you don't own a pair of boots.
Addendum: the last three days of Palin's interviews have proven that she is an absolute MORON! I'm not intellectualist nor do I even consider myself very intelligent, but Washington should put a restraining order on her brain! Lies, distortions and nonsense are compounded when she tries to "explain" what she meant. With all of Biden's admitted gaffs, she'll do better at the debate with a laugh track - she'll certainly be funnier!
In 1940, Gracie Allen "ran" for President - for the Surprise Party. Her mascot was a kangaroo because her slogan was "It's in the bag." Of the Lend-Lease bill she said: "Whatever the bill is, if we owe it, we should pay it." And: "Everyone knows a woman is better than a man when introducing bills into the house." She toured the country and gave speeches from the back of the train at stops.
During the election of 1940, she actually received votes.
If she ran against Sarah Palin - for any office - I'd vote for Gracie. Her ditzy character had more brains. PERIOD.
