OMG! Queer Republicans May Be Just As Dumb As The Rest of Them!!
He Can't Speak, He Can't Act, And PLEASE Don't Ask Him to Sing! So What The Hell Is He Talking To A Bunch of Gay Republicans For?
WARNING: The video in this post may cause the viewer to laugh themselves to death or at the very least, vomit repeatedly. Call your doctor (psychiatrist) immediately if you have symptoms of severe depression and bewilderment due to exposure with inordinate amounts of hypocrisy.
Possibly one of the world's greatest oxymorons is the term "Gay Republican." I've tried separating the two words, then putting them together again or putting them in reverse order, but they come out the same way: No Way! I've known that conservative gays exist (e.g. Andrew Sullivan, whom I respect and admire), but gay Republicans? No. That is why I draw a stare of disbelief when people refer to Log Cabin Republicans.Yes, they exist. And, yes, they have a right to exist. Just as the President of The United States has a right to be profoundly dimwitted. And yes, there are some very dimwitted gay people out there. The evidence is there: people are willing to vote for John McCain who will try his best to strip gays of all the rights they've fought for, including the ones they've won. McCain hates gays. And no matter how many gay "friends" Palin says she has, she hates gays as well. Both of them will see to it that corporations, churches (especially) and various associations discriminate with impunity. To them, in fact, there is no such thing as "gay rights." Fag-bashing doesn't exist. Hate crimes (at least against gays) don't exist. Fred Phelps doesn't exist.
Obama's acceptance speech actually used the term "our gay brothers and sisters." If anyone within the Republican party ever used that kind of benevolent terminology, they would be denounced as a Republican.
This just in from Think Progress:
VIDEO: Top McCain Aide Tells Gay Republicans, ‘You Are An Important Part Of Our Party’
Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) has long opposed gay rights, stating that he is in favor of the “traditional definition of marriage.” Today, however, McCain’s chief adviser Steve Schmidt addressed a luncheon for the Log Cabin Republicans, a gay advocacy group. ThinkProgress attended the luncheon and captured exclusive video of the speech.
Schmidt opened by stating he has a personal connection to LGBT issues because his sister is a lesbian:
[I want to pay] my respect and the campaign’s respect to your organization. On a personal level, my sister and her partner are an important part of my life and our children’s life. I admire your group and your organization, and I encourage you to keep fighting for what you believe in because the day is going to come. You are an important part of our party.
WoW! A person who admits his sister is a LESBIAN! A person who says that she and her partner are important part of his life! OMG! We MUST listen! He is disclosing PERSONAL information!!
What Schmidt DIDN'T disclose was that McCain has voted against every single law even hinting at gay rights.
We as the Republicans are the party of freedom and as the party we strive to reach that goal and we’ll keep fighting as a party to reach it in full. And I think over time it will be reached. And you are an important part of this party.
The "goal" Schmidt talked about seems further away with every vote for McCain, but the Log Cabin Republicans seemed to lap it up.
ThinkProgress also spoke to Jimmy LaSalvia, Director of Programs and Policy for the Log Cabin Republicans. He not only endorsed McCain, but Sarah Palin as well!
Well, I think that we have a lot in common with Gov. Palin. She is a reformer who hasn’t ever been afraid to take on the party’s leadership and stand up for what’s right. And that’s what we do every day.
So help me God! If I ever run into LaSalvia, I will personally take away his Gay Card! Of course, I'll replace it with a "I'm just like George Bush" card so that people will ask for proof of I.Q. when they see it.
Just a thought.
