Off to Canada - They Must Be Gay Geese

Off to Canada

There can't be many warring Christofascists in Canada. Lots of Catholics with lots of sex and child abuse scandals, but only in the French Canadian part. (e.g. my post concerning the Duplessis Orphans)

Bush to Send More Troops to Iraq

Actually, the figure is 30,000 troops.
I got this one from AP:

Officials: 30,000 troops heading to Iraq in 2009
(AP 3:25 PM)

The deployments would replace troops currently there. But the decisions could change depending on whether Gen. David Petraeus, the top U.S. commander in Iraq, decides in the fall to further reduce troop levels in Iraq.

Petraeus told Congress in May that he is likely to recommend further troop reductions in Iraq, but he did not provide any details. If he decides in the fall that fewer brigades will be needed in Iraq during the next year, there is the chance that brigades could simply be directed to the war in Afghanistan instead.

There is a broad consensus that more troops are needed in Afghanistan, to both train the security forces and fight the insurgents. Defense Secretary Robert Gates and President Bush, earlier this year, told NATO allies that they would increase troop levels in Afghanistan in 2009 in response to the growing violence.

I don't know about you, but this gives me a queezy feeling. Haven't we all been through this before?

Yes or No: Does the President Have the Power to Order Torture of Detainees or their Children?

Well, he does look a little bit like Pontius Pilate

Does he or doesn't he?

Yes or No? Yes or No? Yes or No?

Neither David Addington nor John Yoo answered the questions put to them by the House Judiciary subcommittee. Addington looked quite arrogant and Yoo looked like a simpleton. The questions wereactually simple "yes" or "no" questions. The framework of all the questions: Does the President have the power to command torture? Both Addinton and Yoo must be so afraid of a perjury charge that their responses leaned more toward "yes" than "no".

America always wants to believe the best of their President, so when no one will answer direct questions, they are extremely disappointed. After all, if these guys won't directly defend their President, why should we?

Amidst all the secrecy and lies that Americans have endured for the past eight years, you'd think that Bush's own lawyers would be able to frame answers better than the non-answers they gave. Are they actually as dumb as Bush? That isn't possible is it?
Bush's favorite hangout

Of course, during these difficult times, the American public should itself a question:

Who Would Jesus Torture?
