Sally Kern's son denies reports he is gay

Jesse Kern, son of Rep. Sally Kern, R-Oklahoma City, said information purporting that he is gay, which has appeared on several blogs, is damaging to himself and his family.

Kern, 31, said he feels the media has a responsibility to seek out the truth, then report it.

Kern, who said he is affiliated with the Des Moines School of Metaphysics, said that he chooses to be celibate, but he is not homosexual.

"First of all, no one's sexuality is anyone's business. It is not even my mother's business," he said. "I practice celibacy to give to my God," he said.

Kern said metaphysics helps teach him such things such as concentration, which has helped him keep focused with all the adverse publicity surrounding his mother's comments.

Kern said his mother's comments apparently were taken out of context. He has not chosen to listen to the audio version that has been disseminated widely throughout the nation.

Kern's views differ from those of his mother, although he applauds her for standing up for what she believes, and thanks his parents for his good upbringing. His father is a Baptist minister in Oklahoma City.

This piece is very educational, both in what it says and what it doesn't say.

There are 16 Schools of Metaphysics throughout the country. Almost all of the satellites are housed in a house very much like the one pictured here: the SOM of Des Moines. The one where Jesse Kern is the DIRECTOR. There is only one other teacher, a Mari Hammersley, who is also a past life instructor (shades of Shirley MacLaine!!).

Jesse has never heard the audio, but said his mother's words were taken out of context. Hmm. His meditation keeps him focused: trying to block out the incident?

His celibacy is a gift to God. Celibacy is a sacrifice. If you wish to offer that sacrifice up to God, then by all means do it. But the impression here is that Jesse is keeping as far away from his Baptist parents as he can. He thanks his parents for his upbring and applauds his mother for standing up to her convictions. Her convictions, however, are quite incompatible with Jesse's own beliefs. Given that he believes in sexuality being private even to one's own mother and his beliefs encompass "peace" and "reincarnation," it could be that Jesse was even kicked out of his family's home.


Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to "out" Jesse Kern. His mother, however, has made such a serious statement about a group of people that her entire family has to suffer the ignominy of being scrutinized. And Jesse's statements, coupled with his means of living and beliefs, don't really add up.

PS: The following video was made by the College of Metaphysics. I definitely agree with its message. I certainly don't think Jesse's parents do. I believe that in his own way, Jesse tries to be inspiring. His mother, however, is anything but inspirational. She sounds downright homophobic. You might even say that she inspires...to commit the crime of gay bashing.
